A NOTE FROM JOURNY

JOURNY was born out of a shared love for travel and the stories that come with it.
We met on the road, drawn together by curiosity and a passion for exploring the world beyond the obvious. From the beginning, we knew we made a great team. Stephen brings bold creativity and big vision. Anikó brings structure, instinct, and a producer’s sixth sense. Together, we found a rhythm that just worked. What started as a friendship quickly turned into a creative partnership, and in 2015 we officially launched our production company.
Our first series, a passion project picked up by Ovation and Nat Geo People, became a breakout hit and even won a Telly Award. It was also the moment we found Brett.
Just two weeks before filming, our original videographer broke his leg. A friend recommended a guy called Brett. He showed up, cool as ever, and quietly saved our entire production. He’s now an essential part of the team. Part cinematographer, part editor, part creative savant. Basically the MacGyver of film crews. If there’s something broken, missing, or technically impossible, Brett will fix it.
Since then, the three of us have traveled the world together making shows and collecting a few stories of our own along the way.
There was that time in Ireland when Brett stood guard at the end of a dark alley, while Anikó and Marilia answered a very urgent call from nature in the rain (glamorous, we know). Or the moment in Bali when Brett, lifting a bag filled with gear, let out an unexpected sound effect… then looked at Stephen and said, “Bro, we’ve got young ladies here, behave yourself!” The girls still think it was Stephen, and he’s been protesting his innocence ever since.
In Peru, we accidentally blew our entire food budget in one sitting at a sushi restaurant. Stephen misread the menu and ordered around $400 worth of sushi. Everyone in the restaurant thought we were rockstars. We were not.
Then there was Cuba, where our entire kit was confiscated on arrival. Not ideal when you’re trying to shoot a series. (We still made the show.)
And Hong Kong? Stephen proudly ate 55 dim sums in one sitting. Brett is still trying to work out where they all went.
Oh, and that time Anikó managed to source a Sony FX6, a camera completely sold out worldwide, from inside Ukraine during the early days of the war, and somehow got it to London without a scratch. We still don’t know how she pulled it off. Magic? Probably.
JOURNY is the next chapter in our story. It is the culmination of everything we’ve built, survived, and created together.
We reimagined the channel with one clear purpose: to open up the world to everyone.
We believe travel is more than just movement. It’s a mindset. A way of connecting to places, people, and deeper parts of ourselves. JOURNY is a home for meaningful storytelling. A space where film-makers and creators from all walks of life can share their voices, their cultures, and their truths.
We have built a global platform that reflects the richness and diversity of the world. Not through clichés, but through stories that resonate, surprise, and inspire. We like to say we’re the MTV of travel: bold, fast-moving, and plugged into culture. But we’re also something deeper; a channel driven by curiosity, creativity, and connection.
In an age of endless scrolling, JOURNY stands for something intentional. We don’t chase trends – we champion storytellers. We don’t sell escapism – we offer perspective. Whether it’s a food stall in a back alley, a forgotten island community, or a solo journey through a new city, we believe every corner of the planet has a story worth telling. And someone ready to tell it.
JOURNY is also about access. We’re proud to be a free, ad-supported streaming channel, available to millions. Because the joy of discovery shouldn’t be limited by a paywall.
This is just the beginning.
We are building a creative ecosystem where original voices are amplified. Where under-represented perspectives are celebrated. And where travel is redefined as something honest, inclusive, and transformational.
We’re here to explore the world. And to help you see it differently.
JOURNY with us.
